BPS Season 1 Box Set (w/ Soundtrack)It's the 4th friday of the month, which means Karin DVD 1 is out in Japan, which means the torrents for episodes 1 and 2 are down. If you're liking the show, I hope you pick them up and support the creators. Of course, we're all hoping it gets licensed for R1, but what with the down market lately you can't assume a romantic comedy with no fanservice will be high up on the list.

Well, Tokyopop grabbed the Manga (though they did change the name to Chibi Vampire for some silly reason), so there's a reasonably good chance that someone might pick the Anime up.
Either that or the Manga won't sell well and it will deter anyone from bringing the anime over...

Of the anime's name would have to be changed for the same reason the manga's was, and no company in their right mind (this doesn't incude TokyoPop, of course) would put out a chow called Chibi Vampire.
The name change at Tokyo Pop has to do with the fact that they already have another title called "Karin" in their lineup. There wasn't much choice I guess, but it wasn't the best choice of words. Why not just call it "Vampire Karin" instead of "Chibi Karin"? Ah, someone in marketing needs to be reassigned. Right now Tokyo Pop only has manga vols 1-5 being solicited. Just for the heck of it, I emailed them to ask what their policy would be, since Karin is still very much ongoing. I didn't expect a response, but got a short one, saying basically that it's their policy to stick with a series for as long as it goes, and assured me that they'd stay with Karin past vol 5 (of course assurances are only as good as sales figures). I am a bit surprised at how the manga and anime, while still being quite similar, are also still quite different. Most of the time it seems the anime is a direct retelling of the manga. Not quite so here. I don't know how long the series will run, but I have 1-7 already, and 8 is supposed to come out. In the end, word-of-mouth plays a big role in sales in anything, but I think especially anime/manga. If you like Karin, tell your friends. Tell your enemies. Tell your dentist.
I got pretty hyped up and told my dentist. She seemed intrigued, but only told me to spit.
I'm not deterred.
Although they did change the name (they usually do~) hopefully they'll do a good job. I kinda would rather them license the manga than ADV (the horror) because generally Tokyopop does a better job.
However, I'd be more likely to buy the DVD if they didn't jack the price up so much for so little episodes.
I can't wait for episode 11~

Well our first series was Popotan, and almost 50% of our releases were Survive episodes, so changing the name to match the current series would be a little silly.
