For those who have been following that little drama regarding my computer, it's finally over. It turns out that the original motherboard (ECS K7S5A rev 1) died, then I fried the processor with an improper heatsink attachment while installing the Soyo K7VME (microATX). So replacing the chip did the job, and I'm nearly back on track with my computer. Yippee, I don't have to spend so much money!

Thanks for all the suggestions on the new system people, I will take that into consideration when making my next purchase... too bad by the all the nifty stuff like PCI Express and SATA will be standard fare by then.

SATA is almost on any motherboard now, been a long time that it got out. For PCI Express, its normal, it just have been released recently, so it is a bit too pricy.
